Texas HHS Required Background Checks
In accordance with Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) requirements, all agencies must conduct background and employability checks prior to hire and as required thereafter. These checks are necessary to ensure that employees are eligible to work in healthcare and have no findings that would prohibit employment.
Compliance Requirement
All checks listed above must be completed:

Prior to hire

Annually (recommended best practice)
-
And as required by Texas HHS regulations
Documentation of all background checks must be maintained in the in a confidential file and available for review during surveys or audits.
Failure to conduct required checks may result in regulatory deficiencies and possible enforcement action.
